HHITAVADA, BHOPAL, 5TH JANUARY, 1979: GEETA GOVINDAM: MUSICAL EXTRAVAGANZA – by A.G. Natarajan: “The piece is acceptable for more than one reason. Firstly, the musical part of it. It appears special pains have been taken to select tunes which appeal to all types of listeners and even here, it must be mentioned that the tunes almost blended with the various occasions and added charm. Pathetic, joyous and remorseful moods were brought out by appropriately changing the rhythm to fast or slow and this highlighted the moods of the principal characters represented by the Singers.

To crown all this, the full throated repetitions of expressions like “Sakhi He”, “Yamihe” and “Radhike” etc., almost made the members of the audience share the feelings of Radha or Krishna and for this admirable effect, the music director certainly deserves kudos. Yet another point which deserves appreciation is the maintenance of purity of the Sanskrit text and also the fine way in which they were rendered by the artists drawn from different parts of the country.”

HITAVADA, BHOPAL: GEETAGOVINDAM- FIRST VENTURE IN MUSICAL FEATURES: “The felicitous expressions, the even flow of the Padas which carry their own music, the charming imageries, the depth of pathos and height of ecstasy, sentiments flowing, some times as a caressing breeze and some times as untamed tornadoes and all the woes and joys the human frame is capable of, made the poem unforgettable literary and musical experience. It is a delight as much to the ardent devotee as to the sensuous aesthetic.”

LOKSATTTA, BARODA, 4TH OCTOBER, 1984 – EKVIDHATANI BHARMAR: “The Meera Pad Mere to Giridhar Gopal by Shrimati Vasantha Lakshmi has been rendered with great feeling and with suitable emotion and sentiment. The range of her voice has done wonders to the Bhajan and made it a beautiful experience.”

EVENTS & ENTERTAINMENT, Sept. 4 – Sept. 10, 2004: “Vasantha Lakshmi is a Graded Artist of AIR in both the styles. Her Carnatic Classical background in fact gives her the advantage to maneuver her voice tunefully while singing the Sugam Sangeet, or Sawan ke geet in this particular case.

RAJAHMUNDRY SAMACHARAM, 13TH September, 1987: The Bhava Vallari program presented on Doordarshan, Hyderabad on Wednesday is extremely good. The song “Tholinati” written by Puripanda and rendered by Vasantha Lakshmi is simply superb.
